Special Craft Box Checklist:

| These
are the things that you should supervise when used by
your 3 year old. The glue gun should be used by you,
under the direction of your child. (The tip can burn a
finger easily.) Glue guns hold the most fantastic
constructions together securely, and will make your
child's dream project come true. Use it with sticks,
buttons, felt and feathers. Paint markers are tubes of tempera with a sponge applicator top. No brushes to wash, or paint pots to fill. They are good for quick projects and coloring book. They can make satisfying dot designs. They don't have as much control as a brush and paint. Clay can be either colored plasticene, which will never dry out, or air-drying clay. Use a plastic place mat on the table where the clay is used to keep it under control. If you set up a painting area, an easel is a terrific focal point. It can be used with tempera paint when you bring out the non-spill paint pots, and most easels have a chalk board side for less messy art. Try colored construction paper with chalk for great artworks. Make sure that your tempera paint is very thick, so it won't run on the paper of an easel. Get very big and chubby brushes for small children. Add to your Special Craft Box as you come across items that can be recycled into art projects. Don't forget about food containers, Styrofoam trays, buttons, acorns, macaroni, etc. |
